Faith, Fabric & A Few Puns

A letter from Ashley, founder of Papal Threads

Dear Friends,

I feel so blessed to use the creative talents God gave me to bring more light to the Church — and maybe add a smile or two along the way. Papal Threads began as an idea stitched together by faith, a love of the saints, and a desire to create.

I was raised Catholic, and I’ve stayed Catholic — turns out some habits are worth keeping. The Communion of Saints has been a steady reminder that we are never alone. They intercede for us, encourage us, and sometimes give us a nudge when we need it most.

That connection runs through my life in surprising ways. I met my husband on CatholicMatch.com, and without realizing it at the time, we were married on the feast day of St. Ternan — which also happens to be our last name. I like to think St. Ternan had a hand in that one.

My family’s faith in the saints isn’t just something we talk about — it’s something we live. When my parents’ ranch was threatened by a high-speed train project, my siblings and I turned to St. Rita, the patron saint of impossible causes. Alongside a lot of hard work (and maybe some heavenly intercession), those train plans have since… derailed. (Pun fully intended.)

Even moments of loss are marked by the saints. When my mother-in-law passed away, our pastor prayed a litany of saints over her during the Last Rites. My father-in-law joked that perhaps a shorter list could have been chosen, and I had to laugh — that was already the condensed version.

Today, my husband and I are raising three children in a life that is joyful, chaotic, and full of purpose. Papal Threads is an extension of that life — a way to bring reverence, joy, and a little humor into everyday wear, while pointing us back to the saints and the God who made them.

Thanks for being part of the first chapter. I can’t wait to see where the next threads in this story will lead.

Gratefully stitched together in faith,

Papal Threads creates modern, clever apparel that celebrates the saints, the Catholic Church, and the eternal truths of the faith—because grace and humor can share the same closet.
